We recommend scheduling your class or series around 30 weeks in pregnancy!
This sweet spot in your third trimester gives you plenty of time to process the information you’ll learn and really prepare for birth and postpartum—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. You’re far enough along to apply the tools and strategies to your unique situation, but not so close to your due date that you feel rushed or overwhelmed.
Taking a class around this time allows you time to digest the information and seek out any additional resources you might need. After a class, there may be choices you want to explore, conversations you’ll want to have with your provider, or preferences you’ll want to include in your birth plan. You might find topics that spark deeper curiosity, practices you want to start building into your daily life, or even support tools you didn’t realize you needed.
That’s totally fine—and in many cases, it can be a great idea!
Some families prefer to start learning earlier in their pregnancy so they have more time to absorb the material, reflect on their preferences, and explore their options without pressure. Taking a class earlier than 30 weeks can also give you a head start on things like building your support team, planning for postpartum, and practicing comfort techniques throughout your third trimester.
If you’re someone who likes to plan ahead or is feeling anxious early on, don’t hesitate to join a class sooner. Just know that you may want a quick refresher later on.
We often teach families closer to (and sometimes right around) their due dates.
If you're closer to your due date or short on time, you could always sign up for a one-day intensive class or book a private session tailored to your needs. We’ll make sure you walk away with the essentials—tools to stay calm, advocate for yourself, and feel confident in the process ahead.
No matter when you start, birth education is always worth it.
You deserve support, preparation, and the space to make informed choices—at any stage of your journey.
